LIFE IN THE VILLAGE COMPARED TO THE CITY
How does life in the village compare to the city? People often look down on rural areas. They cite a lack of basic amenities such as pipe-borne water, electricity, good roads, hospitals, etc., as reasons why villages cannot be inhabited by them.
However, this position does not hold water as the villages compensate for the absence of these items with superior advantages.
Life in the Village is Easygoing Compared to the City
Firstly, villages are not inundated with noise pollution as is common in an average city. The environment of the rural areas is serene and peaceful. One becomes attuned to nature and at peace with fellow humans in the village.
Whereas in the city, everyone is in a rush to get somewhere. In the morning, before the sun rises, people are already in their car in a frenzied dash to work. The traffic congestion renders them agitated and combative. They quarrel with other road users, get to the office in a bad mood and thereafter falls out with the employees or employer, as the case may be.
The same scenario plays out on the return journey. They fight traffic all the way to their destinations. They arrive home angry, frustrated and tired. They just eat and hurry off to bed to sleep. They do not have any social interaction with their children, thereby causing an irreparable damage to the family, and the society by extension.
There is Abundant Fresh Food in the Village Compared to the City
Another way in which life in the village can be compared to the city is the abundance of fresh farm produce in the former. Fruit trees can be found after every ten steps. Anyone can pick a fruit from a tree provided he has obtained prior permission from the owner. In any case, every family has more than three variants of fruit trees in their back garden.
In the city, one would be hard-pressed to find a fruit tree. Greedy estate developers usually cut down all trees on site to make way for their monstrous high-rise buildings. Even trees that are not necessarily in the way of the construction work are brought down without a second thought.
Communal Living Still Obtains in the Village
People still value communal life in villages. Here, everyone knows everyone else therefore crimes are rarely committed by community members as they know they would be fished out in no time.
Life in the village compared to the city is very different in the aspect of parenting. In the villages, parenting is everyone’s business and the young people are better off because of this. In the cities, people live in walled and gated compounds and have no interest in what another person is doing. Some never get to see or exchange greetings with their neighbours for the many years they lived in the same vicinity.
Low Rate of Pollution in the Village Compared to the City
The high rate of pollution is another way in which life in the village is better compared to the city. Thousands of cars ply the roads of the cities every day. These cars emit a dangerous gas called carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide can be absorbed by trees but since there are few trees in the cities the gas stays in the air and is subsequently taken into the human body.
Finally, the desire for quick wealth has brought on many vices in the society. Traders adulterate their goods in order to gain maximum profit. People in the cities have no choice but to buy these adulterated farm produce which is highly dangerous to health. However, consumers in the villages are not faced with such a dilemma as they can rely on their harvest.
In conclusion, life in the village is better, compared to the city.
