Reasons Why Farmers Are More Important Than Teachers
My co-debaters, panel of judges, and members of the audience. Thank you for your attention as I give reasons for supporting the proposition that farmers are more important than teachers.
Farmers are the pillars of any society because their products sustain the people. Without food, members of the community would not be healthy enough to learn anything. A hungry man is an angry man goes the saying, and an angry man will find it difficult to imbibe a teacher’s lessons. Therefore, farmers are more important to the society than teachers.
Many people view farming as a simple occupation of growing food in small plots of land to feed the family. However, farming is much more than that. Farming is a more sustainable activity than teaching because people can refuse to learn, but they may not refuse to eat. Everyone knows what happens to people in drought-stricken areas of the world. Those people suffer from starvation and eventual death because there is no rainfall for farmers to cultivate the land and grow crops to feed them and keep them healthy and strong.
Although teachers are responsible for creating doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other important careers that take care of illnesses in the human body, farmers are more important because they are the ones that encounter and are knowledgeable on medicinal herbs that grow in the forests and farmlands. Farmers also grow plants that can be processed into drugs for use by the human and sometimes animal population.
Whereas teachers only generate money for themselves, farmers contribute greatly to the economy of a country. Farm products such as rice, wheat, barley, ginger, cocoa, groundnut, among many others, are exported to other countries in exchange for money. Some countries don’t have mineral resources such as oil, tin, lead, gold, and others. They only rely on agricultural exports to boost their economy.
Farmers are very important to the well-being of the environment. This is because their activities of tilling the soil and growing green vegetables and other crops help the environment by removing carbon monoxide from the environment. Carbon monoxide is a deadly chemical which is released into the atmosphere by different sources. However, trees and green crops absorb the carbon monoxide from the air, leaving it safe for human beings.
The typical farmer is usually modest in appearance which makes many people to be disrespectful of the profession. However, farmers are often rich men and women who sell their cash crops and to suppliers and consumers at any price determined by them.
My co-debaters, panel of judges, and members of the audience, you can agree with me that farmers are extremely important in the society, and are even more important than teachers because a hungry man cannot learn.
